COM 208: Twitter Revolution assignment

The team challenge is to do the following:

  1. Pick one of the 55 authoritarian states listed in the Economist Intelligence Unit’s political vulnerability index.
  2. Read about your country on the CIA World Factbook website
  3. Review Dictatorships to Democracy, a guide to political revolt by Gene Sharp (download PDF here).
  4. In the guide, see Appendix One, The Methods Of Nonviolent Action. Pick three strategies among those are listed that you believe would contribute to a Twitter revolt in the country of your choice.

On Monday, your group should explain your choices to the class. Tell students what three methods of nonviolent action you chose and why these methods might be appropriate for your country.
