Swamp creature: Golden silk spider

This golden silk orb weaver, also known as a banana spider or giant wood spider, was hanging out at the Haw Creek Preserve, southwest of Bunnell in Flagler County. They feed on flies, bees, wasps and moths.
They aren’t poisonous and will not bite humans unless provoked.
Frank Starmer, a professor at Duke University, posted a story about a banana spider named Natasha here. His close-up pictures are amazing.
