Texting and other tales

Today in Intro to Media, we’re going to discuss ways that digital technology has transformed mass media. We’ll also talk about texting.
You may be interested to know that it took only 20.53 seconds for Mark Encarnación to write the following message:

The razor-toothed piranhas of the genera Serrasalmus and Pygocentrus are the most ferocious freshwater fish in the world. In reality they seldom attack a human

Encarnación wrote the same message while blindfolded in an astonishing 25.90 seconds, according to Guinness World Records.
Just don’t text at the movies. Earlier this month, an ex-cop, Curtis Reeves, got into a dispute with a fellow movie-goer, Chad Oulson, who had been texting during the movie previews. Oulson threw a bag of popcorn at Reeves, then Reeves shot and killed him, police say. See story here.
