Today in photojournalism class we’ll be talking about exposure, understanding manual settings, captions and photo sharing websites.

I uploaded some photos to a site called 500px over the weekend. It’s a great website. It’s easy to use. And the most popular photos on the site are spectacular.

I think students can learn a lot from such sites, which allow them to get feedback and share ideas with other photographers.

Facebook groups can also be useful for sharing ideas and learning from others. The National Press Photographer Association’s Multimedia Immersion workshop used one earlier this year and I learned a lot from it (See “Lust for lenses“).
