Researchers Jim Blascovich and Jeremy Bailenson say 3-D conferences with avatars will likely be available by 2016.
According to the New York Times, recent innovations making this possible include:
- Microsoft’s Kinect – code name Project Natal – a motion-sensing device for the Xbox 360. Control your avatar by moving around the room. See demo.
